Clifton's Outdoor Cinema Returns This Summer!

Get your popcorn ready and raise a glass of bubbly, Clifton summer screen spectacular is set to return for second year this July, with award winning films, including Barbie and Notting Hill joining classic titles, Roman Holiday and Arsenic and Old Lace on the big screen.

Established as a Clifton BID summer staple, The Clifton Summer Screenings is back with a line-up of incredible box office blockbusters in the stunning Mall Gardens.

This year, ‘Screen2’ is also being introduced, hosting a range of talks, short films, cult movies and vintage screenings (which combine a film and wine tasting).

Join us from Thursday 4th to Sunday 7th July for an unforgettable cinematic experience under the stars! With over 40 outdoor screenings, film enthusiasts are in for a treat. From beloved classics like Pretty Woman and Dirty Dancing to action-packed favorites such as Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Pirates of the Caribbean, there's something for everyone.

For those craving a late-night thrill, we've got you covered with cult horror classics like the Blair Witch Project and Friday the 13th.

Bring the whole family for daytime screenings of Madagascar, The Land Before Time, Willy Wonka, Sleeping Beauty, and the original Mary Poppins. It's entertainment for all ages!

We're also excited to kick off the week with the Cary Grant Festival, celebrating 120 years of the Hollywood legend with a Bristol twist. Explore the remarkable journey of Archibald Leach, the Bristol native who became a silver screen icon. Following this, delve into a diverse program featuring timeless classics and captivating documentaries like The Mystery of Picasso, Blitz on Bristol, and Abba vs Queen.

Chris Firth, Chairman of Clifton BID, said: “We are hugely excited to be announcing our 2024 season, our biggest year of cinema yet. “With an incredible line-up of great films, it’s shaping up to be really special. With some additional surprises planned – including coming face to face with a dinosaur and meeting real-life animals.

“We are also proud to host two charity screenings – raising money for local charity BRACE Dementia Research.

“This year we’re partnering with The Ivy Clifton Brasserie and The Mall Deli to bring a delicious array of food and drink, including pre-ordered gourmet picnic hampers and deli boxes and the opportunity to attend an ‘Ivy Invites’ reception package and welcome drink before your film begins. “There will also be ice cream and confectionaries available to purchase on the day, as well as complimentary wine tastings by Lyme Bay Winery.

“Due to the success of last year’s programme, we are thrilled to be able to announce a second screen, with vintage screenings, short films and talks.

“There really is something for everyone. Clifton BID looks forward to welcoming film fans from across the city for a night of cinema under the stars!”

Clifton Summer Screenings is sponsored by Porsche Centre Bristol, Keylu and NFU Mutual. Screenings are in covered areas, ensuring you enjoy the film regardless of the weather. The state-of-the-art LED screens ensure a quality picture, even in the summer sunshine.
